Honeywell 14CE Series Limit Switch, 22.5N Operating Force, Die Cast Zinc Housing - 14CE18-1

This limit switch is a compact, mechanically robust device designed to detect position changes and actuate control circuits within industrial automation environments. It employs a TOP pin plunger actuator and a single-pole double-throw contact arrangement to provide Rapid changeover signalling for electrical control systems. The unit is built to withstand repeated cycling and is suited to installations where a waterproof enclosure and secure cable termination are required.

Features and Benefits:

• Snap-action contacts enable fast, reliable state changes
• Rated for 250V AC and 30V DC to suit common control voltages
• Switching current capability of 5A supports modest load switching
• Mechanical life rated at 10 million cycles for prolonged service
• Operating force of 22.5 N ensures consistent actuation response
• Die-cast zinc housing offers robust protection in industrial settings

Applications

• Suitable for detecting end-of-travel on conveyor positioning
• Ideal for use in automated machinery limit sensing
• Used for safety interlock switching in electrical cabinets
• Can be used for actuator position feedback in assembly lines
• Suitable for outdoor or washdown areas requiring waterproofing

How is the switch sealed against ingress?

The enclosure meets multiple IP ratings including IP65, IP66, IP67 and IP68, providing graded protection against dust and water immersion for harsh environments.

What connection method does the device use for wiring?

Termination is via a cable interface, permitting direct cable runs into the switch without screw Terminal blocks.

What temperature range is appropriate for operation?

The device is specified for use between 0°C minimum and 70°C maximum ambient temperatures to match typical industrial conditions.

Can the switch be mounted alongside others in Compact assemblies?

It supports gang-mounting orientation to allow multiple units to be installed adjacently for multi-point sensing.

What are the physical footprint characteristics relevant to panel space?

The switch presents a Compact profile with a length of 44mm, width of 40mm and depth of 16mm for space-conscious installations.

Approvals

UL, CSA.

Warning

14CE limit switches are not emergency stop devices or safety devices. They must not be used in devices, applications and environments where injury can incur as a result of product failure.

Standards

IP Rating:
All models within the 14CE series meet IP65, IP66, IP67, IP68. This ensures that they are completely dust tight, offer protection against jets of water and can be immersed in water up to 3 m.

NEMA Rating:
Every 14CE limit switch also meets NEMA, 2, 3, 3R, 4, 6, 6P and 13 requirements.

Type 2: Allows for indoor use and provides a degree of protection against access to hazardous parts. The enclosures provide a degree of protection against foreign objects (such as falling dirt) and the ingress of water (light dripping or splashing).
Type 3: Allows for indoor or outdoor use and provides a degree of protection against access to hazardous parts. The enclosures provide some protection from foreign objects (such as windblown dust) and the ingress of water (such as rain or snow). Enclosures that meet NEMA 3 offer protection against ice forming externally.
Type 3R: Allows for indoor or outdoor use and provides a degree of protection against access to hazardous parts. The enclosures primarily provide ingress protection against water (such as rain, snow or sleet). Enclosures that meet NEMA 3 offer protection against ice forming externally.
Type 4: Allows for indoor or outdoor use and provides a degree of protection against access to hazardous parts. The enclosures provide some protection from foreign objects (such as falling dirt and windblown dust) and the ingress of water (such as rain, snow or sleet alongside splashing water and hose directed water). Enclosures that meet NEMA 3 offer protection against ice forming externally.
Type 6: Allows for indoor or outdoor use and provides a degree of protection against access to hazardous parts. The enclosures provide some protection from foreign objects (such as falling dirt and windblown dust) and the ingress of water (such as rain, snow or sleet alongside splashing water and hose directed water). Enclosures that meet NEMA 4 offer protection against ice forming externally.
Type 6P: Allows for indoor or outdoor use and provides a degree of protection against access to hazardous parts. The enclosures provide some protection from solid objects (such as falling dirt and windblown dust) and the ingress of water (such as hose directed water). Enclosures that meet the NEMA 6P requirement also offer protection against water when being submerged at a limited depth.
Type 13: Enclosures that meet Type 13 are suited to harsh environments. Enclosures can be used indoors and provide protection against access to hazardous parts. They offer protection against solid objects such as falling dirt, windblown dirt, fibres and lint. They provide a level of protection from dripping and splashing water and other liquids such as the splashing, seepage and spraying of oil and non-corrosive coolants.
