Schneider Electric Crimp Bootlace Ferrule, With Insulating Bezel, 2.5mm² Maximum Wire Size - DZ5CE Series - DZ5CE0253
Keen to find a foolproof way of terminating wires? Trust in this crimp bootlace ferrule from Schneider Electric. You simply slip the robust copper tube over the end of a stranded wire to safely contain all its individual conductors. It's then firmly compressed with a crimping tool, which creates a rugged protective layer for the end of your cable and prevents the wires inside from coming loose or moving. This makes it a durable and electrically stable termination option that's a practical pick when you're making repeated connections to spring and screw-clamp terminals.
Features & Benefits
• Suits any wire with a cross-section up to 2.5mm² or 14AWG for broad compatibility
• Suitable for use in tough environments as it handles operating temperatures between -20°C and +105°C
Applications
• Commercial distribution panels
• Domestic electrical boards
• Telecommunications networks
What's the purpose of this ferrule's bezel?
This ferrule has a 4.6mm-diameter bezel made of halogen-free plastic. This gives you a safely insulated surface to grip as you insert or remove the wires. As it's halogen-free, it won't produce toxic smoke in case of a fire, so it's an all-round safety booster.
Schneider Electric Cable Ends
Schneider Electrics cable ends are commonly referred to as a crimp bootlace ferrule, they are comprised of tin-plated copper tubes that have been crimped (compressed for joining) over a standard wire to accomplish a reliable connection. This range of bootlace ferrules features a variety that has a colour coded insulation collar, this helps to protect the connection from contacts.
• Facilitates introduction unto the terminals
• Ends are packaged in small boxes of 100 pieces.
• Any bootlace ferrule that is colour coded allows the user to easily identify and access them
What is a Bootlace Ferrule?
These bootlace ferrules are moulded with a colour-coded insulating collar which is made up of plastic. The ferrule is slipped over the end of a multi-stranded wire or cable, crimped and then inserted into a screw or spring clamp connection. When a multi-stranded wire has been stripped and placed under a screw terminal, the strands of wire will naturally fan out due to the pressure of the screw, with some of the strands going completely astray - this dramatically reduces the quality of an electrical connection, it could also result in an electrical short. This is when a bootlace ferrule comes in to play, their flared design and insulated funnel restricts all the fanned-out strands. Once a bootlace ferrule has been applied, it is then crimped together with a crimp tool and inserted into a terminal to create the electrical connection.
