A multifunction communications device, the TSXCUSB485 converts serial signals into RS485 signals via a USB connection. PC's equipped with type A USB port can then be provided a link to other devices. Different serial mode functions are defined according to the rotary switch position, TER MULTI - Multi-point mode, OTHER MULTI - Other types of communication, TER DIRECT - Point to point mode and OTHER DIRECT - Point to point for other types of conversion. Users are able to manage up to 4 interfaces, and this converter has a unique serial number, if the converter were to be replaced the driver will detect the new serial number and automatically reset. Line polarisation for Modbus is also provided, implemented at one location generally the master device, OFF position should be used if the Modbus serial line is already polarised by another device and ON should be chosen for polarisation.

RS485 is a communication standard that is the most versatile, a communication interface in data acquisition, HMI and control it performs well on all four points.
