What's a reed switch used for?
A reed switch is actuated by magnetism. When you fix one or more to the outside of a pneumatic cylinder with a magnetic piston, the switch can offer real-time information about the location of the piston. This is useful for providing safety feedback or input to a PLC, or as part of a sequencing operation with other electronic control valves.
