RS PRO Silver Steel Rod, 1 m x 8 mm OD


This versatile 1-metre metal rod is ideally suited for making your own tooling parts. Made from silver steel, it's fully compliant with BS1407 (composition of silver steel standards) and comes in an 8 mm outside diameter.

The high-quality rod is ground to a very close tolerance, meaning it's well suited for applications that demand accuracy. Silver steel contains high amounts of both carbon and chrome, combining a noticeable toughness with an aesthetically pleasing shine (from which it takes its name). It is an excellent material for punches, dowels and gauges.

As part of our trusted RS PRO range, this rod has been stringently tested to meet our exacting standards of quality and consistency. Steel rods such as these are commonly used in engineering applications, and as pinions, spindles and shafts.
