RS PRO Silver Steel Rod, 1 m x 6 mm OD
A high-quality rod is an essential component for making your own tooling products. This versatile silver steel rod meets the BS1407 standards for silver steel composition, and is available in a length of 1 metre with an outside diameter of 6 mm.
Silver steel contains high levels of carbon and chrome, giving it a noticeable toughness combined with the characteristic shine from which it takes its name. This makes silver steel an excellent choice for use in punches, pinions and gauges. In addition, the rod is ground to a very close tolerance of +0/-0.015 mm, so it is ideally suited for applications that demand accuracy, such as shafts, spindles and dowels.
