Siemens SIRIUS 3RU2 Series Thermal Overload Relay, 28 to 40A Adjustable Current, 22kW Power - 3RU2136-4FB0

This thermal overload relay provides motor protection by monitoring and interrupting excessive motor current in three-phase systems. Designed for contactor mounting, it delivers thermal protection across an adjustable current range and supports both automatic and manual reset modes. The device operates at supply voltages up to 690 V ac and is suitable for installation where ambient temperatures range from −40 °C to +70 °C.

Features and Benefits:

• 28 to 40 A adjustable range offering precise motor protection
• 40 A operational current enabling up to 22 kW at 500 V
• Class 10 trip behaviour limiting motor thermal stress
• IP20 front protection with finger-safe touch prevention
• Screw terminals for main and auxiliary circuits allowing robust connections

Applications

• Used with contactors in industrial motor control panels
• Suitable for three-phase motor protection up to 22 kW
• Ideal for retrofitting in existing control installations
• Can be used for requiring automatic/manual reset modes

What reset options does it provide?

It supports automatic and manual reset, with a typical recovery time of 10 min after an overload trip.

How many auxiliary contacts are available and what is their purpose?

It includes one NO contact for trip signalling and one NC contact for contactor disconnection.

What are the Terminal and conductor connection capabilities?

Main screw Terminals accept solid or stranded conductors up to 50 mm², or two conductors per Terminal where specified

auxiliary terminals accept up to 2.5 mm².

What short-circuit protection is required for the auxiliary circuit?

A 6 A protective device is required for the auxiliary switch where SCC ≤ 0.5 kA and U ≤ 260 V.

Note

Screw Terminals can only be used with screw Terminal overloads and spring Terminals can only be used with spring Terminal overloads.

Approvals

CE, UL, CSA
