Cogged belts are a type of belt that have slots that run horizontally to the belts length to increase the flexibility and service life of it. Because they are more flexible than standard belts, they generally run cooler and have a better coefficient of friction which reduces the chance of belt slip, improve the service life of the belt, as well as the auxiliary pulleys that are being run by it, and can often tolerate applications where belt speeds are high.
