Festo EMMT-ST Series Stepper Motor, 48V Nominal Operating Voltage, 0.63Nm Holding Torque - EMMT-ST-57-L-RS, Numeric Part Number: 8156180

This stepper motor delivers precise open-loop position control for industrial motion tasks. Designed for continuous operation at DC48V, it combines a fine 1.8° step angle with an integrated absolute single-turn encoder and BiSS-C Interface to support accurate position feedback. The unit offers protection suited to workshop and harsher housing environments and accommodates a wide ambient range with appropriate thermal derating.

Features and Benefits:

• 1.8° step angle enables accurate micro-positioning
• 5.2A nominal current supports sustained torque delivery
• 0.26Ω phase resistance reduces voltage drop and heating
• 1500rpm maximum output speed permits Faster cycle times
• Absolute encoder with 16bit resolution provides precise feedback

Applications

• Suitable for pick-and-place Axis in automated assembly
• Used with rotary indexing tables for accurate positioning
• Ideal for conveyor positioning in material handling systems
• Can be used for lab automation requiring repeatable moves
• Suitable for servo-assisted motion in robotics joints

What thermal limits affect continuous operation?

Continuous duty is rated to S1 with a maximum winding temperature of 130°C and a thermal time constant of 30 min

operate to ambient limits or apply derating above specified temperatures.

How does the encoder Interface integrate with controllers?

The built-in absolute single-turn encoder uses a BiSS-C Interface with 16-bit resolution and a 5V supply range of 4.75V…5.25V for direct connection to compatible control systems.

What mechanical loads can the shaft tolerate?

Permissible radial load is 75 N and axial load is 15 N at the output shaft for supported mounting conditions.

How does altitude affect motor performance?

Installation above 1000 m requires derating of -1.0% per 100 m and the product is specified for use up to 4000 m with this derating applied.
