Vialox Nav-T are sodium SON-T lamps supplying you with a long-life cycle of up to 36,000 hours and high luminous efficacy plus they are energy saving, up to a 50% saving when replacing mercury vapour lamps. Suitable for use in open and closed luminaires plus can be used outdoors only when matched with appropriate luminaires. The lamps are ErP compliant plus are dimmable on conventional control and electronic control gears.

A sodium-vapour lamp bulb is a gas discharge lamp that uses sodium to produce a light at a wavelength near 589 nm. Low sodium vapour lamp bulbs are a very efficient light source, however, the yellow light colour means that they are only suitable for outdoor lighting.

A Mercury vapour lamp is more involved and the light is white. Sodium vapour lamp bulbs produce a higher light output, approximately 90 lumens / watt and cannot be used in applications when colour rendering is important.

Discharge SON Lamps

These lamps combine high efficiency and long life with an improvement in colour appearance and rendering compared with low pressure lamps. SON lamps emit a golden-white light. The SON-T lamp, with its clear tubular outer envelope, lends itself to applications that demand precise optical control, e.g. floodlighting. The SON-E lamp, with its elliptical glass bulb, inside which a white diffusing coating is applied, suits other applications where such accuracy of light control is not so essential. An ignitor (internal or external) is used to supply the high voltage necessary for lamp strike up. Reliable strike up (when hot, less than 60 seconds) thus is ensured, and a simple choke is used to stop excessive voltage rise. The run-up time can be up to 6 minutes when cold.
