8420 Series insulators are open ended tubular rubber sleeves. Factory expanded and assembled on a removable core they are supplied for field installation. Once positioned for installation the core is removed allowing the tube to shrink and create a waterproof seal.

This cold shrink tubing is designed for effective electrical insulation and sealing of connectors and splices. Measuring 67.8mm in outer diameter and shrinking to 32.2mm, the 457mm long EPDM rubber sleeve can operate within a temperature range of -40 to 90 °C. Position the assembly on the cable before making connections, ensuring a clean cable insulation of at least 5cm. After connecting, slide the tubing over the lug and unwind the core while gently pulling the loose tab. Once positioned correctly, the installation is complete.

Cold shrink tubing does not require heat during installation, allowing for quicker and safer application, especially in environments where heat could damage other components.

The tubing is constructed from EPDM rubber, which offers excellent flexibility and resistance to high temperatures, ensuring long-lasting performance in various application scenarios.

Once installed, the cold shrink tubing should not be repositioned. However, if removal is necessary, it can be cut away, but replacement will be required as the material does not allow for reapplication.
