RS Pro Ratchet Crimping Tool for Closed End Connectors

Importance of a High Quality Crimp

When a crimping tool is used on a terminal up to two crimps can take place at the same time. One is the electrical connection between conductor and terminal. The other is the insulation crimp which provides strain relief against vibration and tension. It is important that the electrical connection is gas tight without any voids between the wire strands and the terminal. If there any voids present, then corrosion can occur causing resistance and excessive heat which damages the electrical connection. Using a good quality crimping tool will ensure that a full, gas tight crimp is produced preventing future deterioration of the electrical connection and insulation breakage

RS Pro Ratchet Crimping Tool – Overview

From RS Pro a durable, reliable and easy to use hand operated crimping tool made from high-quality materials. This hand tool consists of two handles, a ratchet mechanism, a locator for accurate positioning of the terminal and a die assembly containing 3 crimping cavities

Ratchet Mechanism

The ratchet is pre-set to a specific force and remains locked until the handles of the tool are fully closed and the dies are bottomed. The handles cannot be opened until a full crimping cycle is achieved therefore preventing partial crimps. Once the cycle is complete the handles re-open. The ratchet also enables the operator to repeatedly produce consistent, high-quality crimps

Adjustable Handle Force

This hand crimping tool features a cam that is used to adjust the handle load force. The cam locking screw is removed using a screwdriver and the cam is simply turned clockwise to increase the handle force or anti clockwise to decrease the handle force. Once the required setting is selected the cam screw is locked back into place

Key Features and Benefits

• Durable and easy to use
• Ratchet mechanism ensures that full crimp cycle is achieved
• Locator accurate terminal positioning
• Adjustable handle force
