Team Swinburne

The Team

Team Swinburne Formula SAE, a team of young talented student engineers from Swinburne University who each year take on the challenge of designing, building and competing against other universities from around the world in a small single seat open wheeled race car. This is a global programme aimed at developing world class engineers capable of working across many sectors from motor racing to green energy solutions.

Team Swinburne

Our group is one of just three universities in Australia to have an electric powered car which is in line with Swinburne's focus on sustainability and environmentally friendly technology. The project allows our students to apply learned theory from the classroom to a real project which simulates the corporate environment with real deadlines, various ‘department’ style sections and a far larger pool of group members than any other project offered at university.

Goals for 2014

Our primary objective in 2014 is to develop the Team’s most powerful, reliable and lightweight car yet. We also aim to uphold our title of having the number one electric-powered vehicle at the event. Sponsors play a crucial role in allowing us to manufacture and operate our car to the highest standard. This year we plan to improve relationships with sponsors and supporters across the board, and further engage with the community and local businesses. An ongoing goal of ours is to continually improve knowledge and expertise within the Team. In 2014 we will be recruiting students from a variety of disciplines and year levels in order to benefit from the best-rounded team.
