A dispensing bottle is a fluid-containment vessel designed to release a measured or controlled amount of liquid on demand, through a manual squeeze, a pump head, a trigger spray, or a calibrated bottle-top mechanism. Dispensing Bottle Types

Dispensing bottles are grouped by delivery mechanism and by construction material. Work through both dimensions to match the vessel to the fluid.

  • Squeeze-Action Bottles: These are flexible LDPE or HDPE plastic dispensing bottles. Characterised by a narrow nozzle that delivers a directed stream, suited to solvents, buffers, indicator solutions, and general lab reagents.
  • Pump-Action Bottles: A pump dispenser bottle uses a piston or diaphragm in the cap to draw fluid up the dip tube and deliver a measured shot per stroke, from millilitres up to fixed 10 or 20 mL doses on calibrated units.

How Dispensing Bottles Work

Fluid delivery relies on one of two mechanical principles. In a squeeze bottle, deforming the body raises internal pressure and forces fluid out through a fixed-diameter nozzle; releasing the body draws air back in. In a pump dispenser bottle or trigger sprayer, the piston creates a vacuum on the upstroke that draws liquid up the dip tube, and applies pressure on the downstroke that pushes it through the nozzle or atomiser head. A bottle top dispenser works on the same displacement principle but uses a graduated piston to lock the delivered volume to a preset value.

Delivery accuracy is a function of nozzle geometry, piston stroke, valve seating, and the fluid's viscosity. Thin solvents flow readily through fine nozzles; viscous liquids need larger orifices or a mechanical dispenser.
