    3 Phase Isolators

3 phase isolator switches are a type of fused switch disconnector mechanism. As the name suggests, these switch devices help to ensure that electrical systems and circuits are completely and safely powered down. They do so by isolating (i.e. cutting off the power supply to) a particular part of the circuit in question. This is especially important in many routine industrial servicing and maintenance applications.

We stock three-phase isolator switches under our own in-house RS PRO brand, offering unbeatable value by passing on supply cost reductions directly to our customers. We also offer a wide range of isolator switch components designed and manufactured by other leading names in the field, including ABB , Eaton, Schneider Electric, Socomec and more.

What's the difference between an isolator and a breaker?

Although functionally similar in terms of their immediate effect, isolator switches differ from standard circuit breakers in that a circuit breaker is designed to interrupt the flow of power to the rest of the circuit under 'on'-load conditions. An isolating device, conversely, interrupts the flow of power to a specific part of the circuit by detaching it during the 'off'-load stage.
