Banana Jacks
Banana jacks also known as banana sockets allow the banana plugs to be inserted to provide a secure and reliable connections. Banana jacks are the female version of banana plugs and like banana plugs the most common size is 4mm, but there is a miniature version that are sized 3mm and 2mm jacks. Banana jacks provide usually have a copper plating to improve conductivity when a plug is inserted.
Banana jacks can be found in a variety of colours with the most common being Black and Red. It comes down to preference which colour you use.
What type of Banana Jacks are there?
As we know banana jacks are female connectors that allow of banana plugs to be inserted for a high performance connection. However, there are a few types of banana sockets, these are:
- Standard banana jacks: Standard banana sockets can only accept unshrouded and retractable banana plugs, however they cannot accept shrouded banana plugs.
- Shrouded banana jacks: Shrouded banana sockets can accept all three, shrouded, retractable and unshrouded banana plugs.
