Display technology is one of the most rapidly advancing areas of technology on the whole. While the simplest television displays were once enormous devices that were very heavy and very fragile, today's liquid crystal displays are capable of providing rich, very high quality visual information in a very light and durable package. What are Industrial Monitors?

What are OLED Displays?

OLED displays are sophisticated devices that utilize electroluminescent materials to produce an image. An electric current is passed through the electroluminescent material, providing the image.

OLED displays are differentiated from standard LCD displays in that they can't function without any separate backlighting component. These screens can also be made in flexible designs, which is one of the most innovative types of electronic displays on the market.

OLED displays are notable for being able to display high contrast images very efficiently and for their ability to display very rich and deep black tones, a capacity which LCD monitors tend to lack.

What are Touch Screen Accessories?

Touch screen accessories include a wide variety of different accessories that make it easier to use touch screen devices and that provide protection for touch screen devices.

In industrial settings, touch screen accessories that provide protection are very common. These include screen protectors, which consist of a thin layer of material that is laid over the top of the screen, preventing scratches and other damage from occurring. What are Touch Screen Sensors?

Touch screen sensors take user input from the screen and translate that into an action on the part of the device. A common type of touch screen sensor in use today is the capacitive touch screen sensor. These devices consist of a pane of glass that is covered with a conductor. The screen has an electrostatic field. That electrostatic field can be measured in terms of its capacitance. The human body is also an electrical conductor, so when the operator's finger and the screen come into contact, the electrostatic field is disturbed and that can be used as a form of input.

Resistive touch screen sensors measure a change in resistance on the screen utilizing two different layers of material. This can be translated into an electronic signal that can be used as input for the device.

There are also sensors that utilize acoustic waves to provide the input for the device.

Touch screen sensors have different advantages and disadvantages between the various designs. For example, capacitive touch screens require the user to exert no pressure to provide input to the device and are very sturdy. They cannot, however, be operated if the user is wearing gloves or using a peripheral device that is an electric insulator.

Resistive touch screen devices, on the other hand, can be utilized when wearing gloves or with any electrically insulating device, but pressure is required to input a signal into the device and the screens are typically not as durable as capacitive resistance models.

What are VFDs (Vacuum Fluorescent Displays)?

Vacuum fluorescent displays are very common in consumer devices and in industrial settings. These devices are capable of producing very bright displays, the crispness of which is ideal for industrial settings.

Vacuum fluorescent displays can display seven segment numbers and letters. These devices are also available in dot matrix designs that allow them more flexibility in terms of their display.

These displays can support multiple colors, they are very efficient and they're very inexpensive to produce. They also produce light without producing a great deal of temperature, which makes them convenient in many different applications. In some cases, color filtering is utilized to display numerals in richer colors, making the more visible or simply providing additional visual information for the operator.
