Two new European Directives, introducing new environmental responsibilities for manufacturers, importers, retailers and distributors of electronic and electrical equipment and components are soon to come into force.

RoHS (Restriction of certain Hazardous Substances in electrical and electronic equipment) and WEEE (Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment) will mean a shift in responsibilities for manufacturers and suppliers. Both are part of a series of EU environmental measures that are very closely linked.
