AECS 35-3

The Analogue EC sensorless amplifier is a very efficient 1Q amplifier for commutation of 3 phase brushless dc. motors without Hall effect sensors (i.e. Maxon flat brushless motor EC45). The controller is suitable for 3 phase brushless motors without Hall sensors up to 120W. The unit uses the back emf generated from the motor for rotor position and commutation.
The controller can regulate the motor speed either from its own internal potentiometer or from voltage input
Functions include, direction, disable, motor braking, set value
The controller has connection for both a 3 wire motor and the 4 pole flex print connector for the Maxon flat brushless sensorless motor

Depending on the rotor position and size of the coupled load, there is a short start up procedure prior to motor run up, during this procedure the controller also determines the rotor position. This is achieved by the controller alternating the motor in forward and reverse direction for a very short period.
The motor voltage cannot be reduced to 0V because of the commutation process minimum speed (approx 500-2000rpm) is dependent upon operating voltage, load, motor type and no of poles on the motor. The maximum speed of the motor with a 16 pole magnet (flat brushless motor) is 11250 rpm.
