A motion sensor is a sensor that helps to detect movement in the vicinity it is operating, it does this by using either one or more technologies. Often used within security systems these sensors will detect movement in a specific area before sending a signal to a control panel where it will alert its user.

- Microwave- by sending out MW signals this type of technology is able to measure the reflection off of a moving object.
- Area Reflective Type- emitting infrared rays from an LED, area reflective technology is able to measure the distance of a person from an object.
- Ultrasonic- by sending pulses of ultrasonic waves it can measure the reflection of a moving object.

Accelerometer Sensors | RS

<p>An accelerometer is an integrated, built-in module or circuit that accurately detects and measures the acceleration and motion of the application it is attached too. The type of measurement they measure is the rate of velocity change in an object. They commonly measure in G-forces (g) or in meters per second squared (m/s2).</p><h2>How do Accelerometer Sensors work?</h2><p>This particular type of sensor is used to measure static (gravity) or dynamic forces (vibration and motion) in acceleration. An accelerometer can measure acceleration with up to three axis units.</p><p>These acceleration sensors usually contain internal capacitive plates, some are fixed whilst others are attached to very small springs. These internally move as acceleration forces are happening on the sensor. When these plates move, the capacitance changes between them and from these changes, the acceleration can be determined.</p><p>Another type of accelerometer, is a Piezoelectric Accelerometer. Hall Effect Current Sensors | RS

<p>Hall Effect Current Sensors named after it's founder American physicist Edwin Hall, allowing non-contact detection of two types of currents which are alternating and direct. These types of sensors are activated by an external magnetic field. In this generalized device, the Hall sensor detects the magnetic field produced by the magnetic system. The magnetic system is known as the Hall element.
