How do hydraulic pressure sensors work?

Just like other transducers, hydraulic pressure sensors utilise an electrical input in order to work successfully. The input voltage of the transducer is commonly under 10 volts, however, it may vary depending on the type of sensor. In comparison, outputs are often in the hundreds of thousandths of volts. A difference in pressure causes the electrical circuit's transducer resistance to be altered. This in turn causes a change to the output voltage. A hydraulic pressure sensor's output signal can be used in systems that need digital signals to work with the simple addition of an analog to digital converter (ADC).

Types of hydraulic pressure sensors

Stain gauge - Commonly the impedance or electrical resistance of a strain gauge will be changed when a strain gauge element is compressed or stretched.
