Brakes

Our range offers two types of breaks Electromagnetic and Spring Applied. Both of these brake types are similar in that they use electricity in the function of applying the brakes.

Electromagnetic Brakes
Electromagnetic brakes also known as electro-mechanical brakes or EM brakes, slow down or stop motion using electromagnetic force to apply mechanical resistance (friction). These brakes are designed to decelerate or hold inertial loads when the voltage is turned off.

Key Features of Electromagnetic Brakes
Fast Response - With a single friction plate design allows for a very fast response on a high cycle applications
Smooth and Quiet - When in operation the brake application engages smoothly, eliminating any chattering noise, and helping to sustain a quiet operation.

Typical applications for these brakes
Conveyor drives
Escalators
Packaging machinery
Factory processing machinery
Spring Applied Brakes
Spring Applied brakes also known as safety breaks are used for dynamic stopping or holding of loads when the power supply is off. Brake release occurs when a DC current of 12 to 205V is applied to the coil creating a magnetic force that opens a brake. It offers a high level of safety which is achieved by brake design, multiple springs and the quality of materials and machining and of course it has to be correctly maintained to fulfil its course.

Key Features of Spring Applied Brakes
Reliability - These brakes can be used in a wet environment without compromising the braking performance.
Smooth and Quiet - When in operation the brake application engages smoothly, eliminating any chattering noise, and helping to sustain a quiet operation.

Typical applications for these brakes
Conveyor drives
Escalators
Packaging machinery
Wheelchairs
