Socket Wrenches

A socket wrench is a ratchet type tool, that allows you to turn nuts and some bolts with more ease than regular wrenches.
The ratcheting feature allows you to keep the wrench connected to the bolt without having to refit it after every turn of the bolt.
When coupled with a set of cylinder shaped sockets of varying sizes, can be used to tighten or loosen nuts or bolts.
Socket wrenches and the sets are beneficial types of equipment to have around the house or within your tool range for repairs and projects of all kinds.

The handle of the wrench provides the leverage to turn the nut or bolt to loosen or tighten. A square shaped projection at the top of the handle accommodates the socket. Handles come in various lengths, with the most common being around 8 in.

The socket is a metal cylinder that fits tightly onto a nut or bolt on one end. The other end of the socket features a square shaped hole that affixes to the driver on the handle.
