What are Thermal Insulating Sheets?
A Thermal insulating sheets are a sheet or of material, or a mix of materials that reduces the transfer of heat. Heat transfers from warmer surfaces to a cooler surface making the temperatures of each surface the same. Thermal insulation reduces the transfer of heat between surfaces. The main function of thermal insulating is to protect equipment by controlling surface temperatures.

Thermal insulating sheets can be cut and shaped as required and many have good thermal shock resistance coping with temperature variations.
There is available insulation to suit every requirement. Any thickness, length, density, material and temperature range.

What are Thermal Insulating sheets made of?
There are various materials that make up thermal insulating all with a range of properties.

Fiberglass – Woven finely strands of silicon, glass powder and glass fragments. Extra care must be taken when using fiberglass and protective equipment must be worn. Non-flammable.

Mineral wool – there are 3 types of thermal insulation mineral wool.

• Glass wool made from recycled glass
• Rock wool made from basalt
• Slag wool made from steel industry slag

Cellulose Insulation – Eco-friendly, made from recycled paper, cardboard and others. Compact format and good fire resistance.

Polyurethane foam – Sprayed onto surfaces, lightweight, fire resistant.

Polystyrene – waterproof thermoplastic. Excellent sound and temperature insulation.
There are 2 types:
• EPS (expanded)
• XEPS (Extruded) also called Styrofoam.

Other material you find in a Thermal insulating sheets are cement board, silica, silicate, microporous board, foil and superwool.
