Telemetry Antennas
Telemetry antennas are a type of antenna used to automatically record and transmit data from remote sources to an IT system in a different location for monitoring and analysis.
Types of Telemetry antennas
There are several types of telemetry antennas including Yagi, Helical, Whip and miniature bead, among others. Yagi antennas, for example, can be mounted to a variety of places such as buildings, vehicles, dams, shorelines or aircraft for monitoring purposes.
Whip antennas are simple flexible monopoles (consisting of a single rod or pole) which can be attached to vehicles. In fact, you will find most vehicles with whip antennas for receiving Frequency modulation (FM) and Amplitude Modulation (AM) signals. For radio tracking purposes, whip antennas are generally cut for the Very High Frequency (VHF) range.
What are Telemetry antennas used for?
Telemetry antennas are used together with transmitters and receivers in a wide range of applications including:
- Meteorology
- Oil and gas industry
- Water management
- Agriculture
- Transportation
- Medicine/healthcare
- Retail
- Fishery and wildlife research and management
- Law enforcement
